This post is for the men. Ladies feel free to read it, but I would like to talk to the men.
Our men’s Sunday morning Bible Study is on male leadership from the book of Genesis. We simply go page by page noting leadership qualities, or the lack thereof, exhibited by the people who fill those pages. We are now up to Isaac. In chapter 25, verse 21, we read, “Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren.” (ESV) Men, what Isaac was pleading for was a big deal to a lady. How big of a deal? In chapter 16:4, when the “cat got out of the bag” that explained Abraham and Sarah’s barrenness (it became obvious Sarah was the hold up), Hagar, “despised” Sarah. Hagar identified the problem, and promptly began to pour salt on a wound. Being barren in that day, as will as this day, is a big deal to a lady.
Men, do you know the tender parts of your wife’s heart? Isaac did. His response? He pleaded with God for a remedy. He did not blow it off as a “woman thing.” Who knows, someone may be rubbing your wife’s heart raw right now, intentionally or maybe unintentionally, but none the less, it is hurting your wife. Intercede for her.
