I read this in the book, “Almost Christian,” by Dean, and thought it was very interesting. Maybe you will too.
“Long contains that we “talk ourselves into being Christian,” which means that talking about Jesus Christ actually deepens our identity as people who follow him, while simultaneously extending Christ’s call to others. In Hebrew tradition, uttering God’s name is the same as invoking God’s power. Proclaiming the name of the Triune God, therefore, is a formative act. It changes things – changes us- by widening the cracks in creation where God enters the world.”
Contextually, the paragraph is in a middle of a section admonishing Christian Leaders to teach young people the necessity of speaking about Jesus Christ.
